A Christmas evening in Chengdu can be built around shopping and photographs, a courtyard visit, or a meal worth taking your time over. Longfor Chengdu Binjiang Tianjie suits a flexible shopping outing. Upper House Chengdu’s courtyard lawn appeals to travellers interested in design and heritage surroundings. Niccolo Kitchen puts a reserved dinner at the centre of the plan.
Geography makes the choice easier. Upper House and Niccolo Kitchen are in the central Chunxi Road, Taikoo Li and IFS area. Binjiang Tianjie is farther east on Shabanqiao Road in Chenghua District. Choose the setting and dinner first, then add a walk if it fits, rather than spending the evening moving between districts.
The Christmas 2026 programmes for these three places still need new announcements. Christmas trees, charity markets and festive meals described below are explicitly dated 2025 examples. New operator announcements must establish this year’s designs, dates, access and dining arrangements.

1. Longfor Chengdu Binjiang Tianjie: shopping with room for photographs

Binjiang Tianjie works when the group wants some freedom. One person can look for gifts while another would rather stop for coffee, and dinner can stay within the same outing. For families, decide on food and breaks first; a short outdoor photo stop is easier to manage than waiting indefinitely for one particular scene.
In its 23 December 2025 retrospective, Longfor described Binjiang Tianjie’s 2025 LED Christmas tree, including mahjong-inspired imagery. That 2025 design illustrates the mall’s colourful, locally playful approach. If a particular installation is the reason for travelling across town, wait for a new 2026 announcement before committing to the journey.
Give the mall an afternoon and dinner rather than treating it as a quick detour before a central reservation. Browse first, then see which displays are actually accessible on the day. If a photo position is busy, eat or shop instead and return if convenient. Staying in one area leaves more time to enjoy it.
- Location: 266 Shabanqiao Road, Chenghua District. Keep the Chinese destination 龙湖成都滨江天街 in your map search so that another Longfor mall, or a Binjiang mall in another city, is not selected.
- Transport: Shabanqiao station (杉板桥) on Line 8 is an approach; check the final walk to the intended mall entrance. Old photographs do not establish current queue locations or entrance arrangements.
- Budget: food, gifts and selected experiences can determine the cost. A normal shopping visit does not need an attraction-ticket purchase. Check any separately ticketed event on its own terms and for the actual date.

Upper House Chengdu, formerly The Temple House, is the same hotel at 81 Bitieshi Street. Its current official introduction describes a preserved courtyard setting within Taikoo Li. This is a good choice for an architecture-minded visit combined with a nearby café or meal. Keep some daylight if you want to appreciate the building details rather than seeing everything after dark.
Contemporary December 2025 reporting documented the hotel’s 2025 book-tree collaboration with Fang Suo on the courtyard lawn, displayed from 12 December 2025 to 6 January 2026. A charity market was part of the 2025 lighting occasion. The longer 2025 tree-display period should not be read as a daily market schedule.
For a visit this year, ask whether non-resident visitors can enter the courtyard and whether a reservation, purchase or specified time is required. Public access reported for the 2025 display is not a permanent entry policy for every hotel area. Once access is clear, make it a short stop before a meal; a dinner reservation can also stand alone without a courtyard visit.
- Getting there: use the Chunxi Road area, served by Metro Lines 2 and 3, then navigate specifically to the hotel at 81 Bitieshi Street in Jinjiang District.
- Access: use the official hotel contact page to check your selected date. Confirm courtyard entry, restaurants and private events separately.
- Pacing: allow a relaxed part of an afternoon for the courtyard and nearby lanes, adjusted to actual access. Add a seated break, and shorten the outdoor section in rain.

A restaurant-led evening suits travellers who would rather talk over dinner than spend hours outdoors. Niccolo Kitchen is at Niccolo Chengdu in the central IFS and Chunxi Road district, so shopping can come before the reservation. Friends can meet at the restaurant directly; on an arrival day, leave luggage at the hotel first instead of carrying it around several photo stops.
The hotel’s 2025 festive announcement included Niccolo Kitchen dinners for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2025, plus December 2025 festive brunches. Those 2025 offerings explain its seasonal dining relevance. For a 2026 visit, start with the current official restaurant page and establish what is being served on your chosen date before deciding whether it suits the group.
Ask about adult and child charges, drinks, service charges, the time allowed at the table and cancellation terms. Discuss dietary requirements before booking. A normal menu, a hotel-stay promotion and a Christmas dining package may have different conditions; reserving a table does not by itself include a particular festive programme. Once dinner is arranged, a short nearby walk can be enough.

- Reservation: check the date, meal, final price and inclusions on the confirmation. Ordinary dining may suit you perfectly; if a Christmas menu is essential, wait for a matching confirmed offer.
- Return: the end of dinner, mall closing and the last metro connection are separate deadlines. With children or older relatives, protect the meal and the return journey before adding more shopping.
Keep the central evening and eastern shopping outing separate
A central date: courtyard and dinner
Start around Taikoo Li in the afternoon. Visit the Upper House courtyard only after confirming visitor arrangements, then head to the booked restaurant. With Niccolo Kitchen as dinner, work backwards from the reservation. Nearby lanes and a good meal also make a complete evening without courtyard entry.
An eastern shopping afternoon
Go to Binjiang Tianjie for shops and gift browsing, look at any accessible current displays, then eat at the mall or a chosen nearby restaurant. Return towards your accommodation afterwards rather than adding Chunxi Road as a compulsory second outing.
A late arrival or indoor-first evening
Meet at Niccolo Kitchen or another confirmed restaurant. Drop luggage before dinner and keep any post-meal walk short and weather-dependent. Save more extensive photographs and exploring for daylight the following day.
Reservations, hotels and the winter journey home
Let the main dinner area guide the hotel choice. A central Chunxi Road base reduces evening travel for Upper House and IFS; a half-day at Binjiang Tianjie rarely requires a hotel move. Compare areas in the Chengdu hotel guide, then check the actual address, luggage approach and transport. A listing that says “near Taikoo Li” does not establish an easy walk.
Separate transport, meals, shopping and optional activities in the budget. Looking at a public-facing shopping area does not automatically require a paid attraction ticket. For a restaurant, use the selected reservation’s terms: find out whether it is refundable, when to arrive, whether minimum spending applies and which drinks or service charges are extra.
Taikoo Li can provide a nearby walk on the central plan. Its 2025 winter artwork Marvelous Journey ran from 20 November 2025 to 4 January 2026 and featured kinetic architectural structures. That 2025 winter-art example does not establish a Christmas tree, market or show for December 2026. Add a current exhibition only if it genuinely interests you and fits the route.
Bring warm layers and comfortable footwear, then adjust outdoor time to the day’s weather. The Chengdu transport guide helps with the network; check the actual station, direction and final interchange before leaving. A mall’s seasonal programme does not imply extended metro hours, and a car journey still needs walking and waiting time at the pickup point.

- No. Upper House Chengdu, 成都居舍, is the current name of the hotel formerly called The Temple House, 博舍, at 81 Bitieshi Street. Check the name and date when reading older guides.
- Can non-guests enter Upper House to see the Christmas tree?
- Reporting described public access to the 2025 book-tree. It does not establish this year’s access. Ask the hotel about your intended date and the separate requirements for the courtyard, restaurants and private events.
- Should I fit all three places into one evening?
- For one evening, stay around Chunxi Road, Taikoo Li and IFS, or choose Binjiang Tianjie on its own. A separate half-day for the eastern mall leaves more room for dinner and walking.
- Which plan is easiest with children or older relatives?
- Use a confirmed restaurant reservation as the main commitment and add a short walk. Check child pricing, seating and accessibility needs in advance. Previous event photographs should not become a promise of specific characters or entertainment.
