Choose the kind of New Year’s Eve you want in Chengdu. Jiaozi Avenue offers a modern skyline in the southern high-tech district. Taikoo Li suits a central dinner and shops. Anshun Bridge and Hejiang Pavilion give the evening a riverside setting. Kuanzhai Alley is the choice for courtyards, tea and historic lanes.
These four places do not need to become one route. In particular, a late move between Chunxi Road and Jiaozi Avenue can turn a relaxed meal into a cross-city rush. Choose an area that works with the hotel and give it enough time.
Countdown events, fireworks and extended transport for 31 December 2026 still need current announcements. Jiaozi Avenue and Taikoo Li seasonal examples are explicitly from 2025–2026; the other recommendations stand on their everyday appeal.
Modern skyline, river views or historic lanes?
| Place | Best for | Main spending | Area choice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jiaozi Avenue / Tianfu Twin Towers | Modern architecture and a high-tech-district base | Dining and chosen activities | Keep the night in the southern district |
| Taikoo Li Chengdu | A central date or friends’ dinner | Restaurants, coffee and shopping | Chunxi Road city centre |
| Anshun Bridge / Hejiang Pavilion | Bridge photographs and a short riverside walk | Dinner; a cruise is optional | Stay around one river section |
| Kuanzhai Alley | Courtyards, tea and a heritage setting | Food, tea and individual performances | Check businesses separately from street access |
Four places for a Chengdu New Year’s Eve plan
1. Jiaozi Avenue and the Tianfu Twin Towers: modern Chengdu
Everyday skyline; historical celebration background

Broad streets, the Jiaozi Ring and the Twin Towers create a very different view from Chengdu’s older lanes. This choice is especially practical for a high-tech-district hotel or a restaurant already booked nearby. Locate the meal and the buildings you want to see before choosing a walk.
The previous celebration report describes a countdown and digital fireworks displayed on the towers for the arrival of 2026. Screen animation is not physical fireworks, and a previous programme does not establish one for December 2026. Verify new public-admission arrangements before planning around a formal event.
- Arrival: Jiaozi Avenue on Line 5 and Financial City on Line 1 provide different approaches. Choose for the actual restaurant and destination.
- Cost: food and selected activities set the budget. Street access does not automatically include a reserved event area.
- Return: allow for walking across a large area and entering a busy station, not just the normal train ride.
2. Taikoo Li Chengdu: open lanes around a good dinner
Everyday district; previous winter programme only

Taikoo Li combines low-rise lanes, Sichuan architectural references and contemporary shops. It works well for a central date: look at the details in daylight, then make a restaurant the evening’s main commitment. Staying around Chunxi Road keeps the return straightforward.
The operator’s previous winter art event ran from 20 November 2025 to 4 January 2026. The date range crossing into 2026 does not make those installations current in December. Choose the district and meal on their own merits, then add a newly confirmed display if it interests you.
- Getting there: the development connects with Chunxi Road station, served by Lines 2 and 3. Navigate onwards to the exact business.
- Booking: check any festive menu, deposit or table-duration rule with the restaurant.
- Cold or rain: this is an open-lane district. Keep the restaurant, café and shops close rather than treating the entire visit as indoors.
3. Anshun Bridge and Hejiang Pavilion: the Jinjiang at dusk
Everyday riverside outing; no countdown cruise promised

This stretch is about the bridge, reflections and buildings beside the water rather than giant screens. Pick one bank and a manageable walk, take photographs as the light changes, then settle into a nearby restaurant. It is a good alternative for visitors who prefer a smaller-scale evening.
A cruise is optional. If you want one, establish the operator, pier and exact dated itinerary; seeing sightseeing boats does not prove a midnight sailing exists. Restaurants on or beside the bridge also have their own access arrangements, separate from the public riverbank.
- Arrival: Dongmen Bridge station on Line 2 is a useful starting point for the Jinjiang area, followed by the chosen riverside walk.
- Spending: dinner and drinks can be the whole budget. A boat trip needs its own current product check.
- Leaving: keep the meal and walk on one bank, avoid blocking narrow paths for photographs and allow time back to transport.
4. Kuanzhai Alley: courtyards, tea and an unhurried meal
Everyday historic-cultural district

Kuanzhai works when a courtyard setting and time together matter more than a large stage. Arrive in the afternoon to look at doorways, brickwork and shops, then sit down for tea or dinner. A short post-meal walk can finish the outing without a long wait in an exposed viewing area.
If a performance, tea service or courtyard experience catches your eye, check the actual content, seat, timing and price. Public lanes do not make every courtyard accessible, and the district’s popularity does not mean every business stays open until midnight.
- Arrival: use Kuanzhai Alley station on Line 4 and select the exit for the intended lane or business.
- Cost: food, tea, shopping and performances are separate choices.
- Return: agree on a specific restaurant or junction. In wet weather shorten the stone-paved walking section rather than adding a late trip to the south of the city.
Choose the high-tech district or a central evening

Southern skyline
Eat near Jiaozi Avenue, take a weather-dependent architectural walk and return to a local hotel. Add a formal event only after its current access is confirmed.
A central date
Stay around Taikoo Li and Chunxi Road for dinner, coffee and shops. A river extension should remain optional.
Bridge and river dinner
Reach Anshun Bridge around dusk, photograph the river and eat on the same bank. If booking a cruise, allow enough time to reach the correct pier before check-in closes.
An unhurried Kuanzhai visit
Explore and drink tea in the afternoon, enjoy dinner and finish with a short lane walk. This plan does not depend on midnight entertainment.
Hotels and the final connection
Compare a central base for Taikoo Li, the river or Kuanzhai, and a southern base for Jiaozi Avenue. The Chengdu hotel guide helps narrow the area before room prices distract from the journey.
Normal metro operation and a New Year extension are different. Use the Chengdu transport guide for the network, then verify the actual station, direction and final interchange on 31 December. A restaurant reservation ending earlier also does not entitle you to remain until midnight.
Chengdu New Year’s Eve questions
- Are digital fireworks on the towers real fireworks?
- No. The previous report describes screen effects; it cannot establish physical fireworks or this year’s programme.
- Can I use Taikoo Li’s January 2026 event details for December?
- No. November 2025–January 2026 belongs to the preceding winter. Look for the next announcement.
- Where should I go for dinner and a walk only?
- Choose a setting near your hotel: central Taikoo Li, the Jinjiang or Kuanzhai, or Jiaozi Avenue for a southern base. There is no need to cross the city solely for an assumed countdown.
