The most confusing part of a Zhengzhou Xinzheng Airport transfer is not the fare. It is that “Xinzheng Airport station” appears in several different transport systems. National-rail intercity trains, the metro’s Chengjiao Line and the Zhengxu Line are not interchangeable. Zhengzhou railway station, Zhengzhou East and Zhengzhou Hangkonggang are also separate destinations, not different exits from one station beside the terminal.
For Zhengzhou East or a hotel nearby, compare the day’s intercity trains first. For Erqi Square, Zijingshan and other central metro districts, look at Chengjiao–Line 2 through services and the onward connection. For a late arrival or substantial luggage, compare the airport’s actual coach departures with a licensed taxi or app-booked car. A short train journey is not the same as a short terminal-to-hotel transfer.
Choose by destination, not by a generic “city centre” label

Save the hotel’s complete Chinese name and address, then use the Zhengzhou hotel-area guide to check the district. A hotel advertised as “near the high-speed station” needs a more precise location: East, Hangkonggang or another station can mean a very different airport journey.
Compare four parts: reaching the transport area after landing, waiting for departure, riding, and getting from the final stop to the hotel. A fast intercity train can lose its advantage if the next suitable service is much later. A metro connection may avoid waiting for a particular railway departure but involve more walking and luggage handling.
T2 and the GTC: identify the system before buying
The airport’s ground-transport centre is often signed as GTC. Before following “metro” or “intercity railway” signs, decide which system you need. The metro operator’s Chengjiao airport-station page identifies exit B with T2 and exits C and D with the intercity railway. Sharing a transport complex does not make all the gates and services the same.
National-rail intercity trains require the appropriate railway ticket and entry procedure. A metro QR code is not automatically valid on them. Equally, an intercity ticket is not a pass for Chengjiao services. Check the departure, station name and ticketing channel before joining a queue.
The Zhengxu Line also has a station called Xinzheng Airport. Its station access page lists a different set of exits: E for T1 and G for T2. Do not assume that the two lines share a platform or already offer an internal interchange just because their station names match. A 2026 announcement from the municipal Zhengzhou Release account still describes the internal connecting passage as a construction project. A promised improvement is not an open facility.
Travellers heading into central Zhengzhou should not board toward Xuchang East simply because “Zhengxu” includes Zhengzhou in its name. If you actually want Xuchang or another airport-zone destination, plan for that station separately; it is a different journey from going to Erqi Square.
Intercity rail to Zhengzhou East: look beyond the headline journey time
Intercity rail is worth checking first for Zhengzhou East. Search using the national-rail station names Xinzheng Airport (新郑机场) and Zhengzhou East (郑州东) through Railway 12306. Check the date, departure, duration and fare. Do not substitute Zhengzhou Hangkonggang, or assume an old timetable still provides a train at a fixed interval throughout the day.
A February 2026 railway-system report describes the airport station’s intercity and air–rail connections. It supports considering the service, but its description of convenience cannot replace your own departure search. A historical fastest time, fare or daily service count need not apply to your travel date.
If you are staying near East station, check which side the hotel is on. Crossing a large station district with cases can be a significant final leg. If you are connecting to another high-speed train, allow a separate railway interchange margin and follow the current transfer arrangement. Two train bookings do not imply a same-platform connection.
Flight arrival times are uncertain, and international arrivals also involve entry formalities. Avoid booking a tight onward train by adding the quickest advertised rail ride to the scheduled landing time. Chengjiao through to Line 2: Erqi Square and central Zhengzhou
Chengjiao and Line 2 operate through services. From Xinzheng Airport toward the city, check the platform and train information for the Jiahe/Liuzhuang direction. Once you are on an appropriate through train, you do not need to get off at Nansihuan merely because the line’s name changes.
For Zijingshan, continue into the city in that direction. For Erqi Square or Zhengzhou railway station, change at Zijingshan to Line 1 toward Henan University of Technology (河南工业大学). Alight at Erqi Square or Zhengzhou Railway Station as appropriate, then check the final walk. This is a practical route, not a promise that every hotel is beside the exit.
For the convention-centre district and Zhengdong CBD, compare changing at Zijingshan to Line 1 in the opposite direction, toward Henan University New Campus (河南大学新区), and choose the stop that fits the address. The two Line 1 termini both contain “university”, so read the full name. Intercity rail to Zhengzhou East followed by a metro or car is another option; one airport route need not suit every hotel.
Check the metro fare for the actual station pair. If someone needs step-free access, ask about the usable lifts and exits rather than assuming the shortest interchange shown on a map is the easiest route. With children or several cases, consider the burden of changing as well as the number of lines involved.
Three railway stations that an exit change cannot fix
Zhengzhou (郑州) is the central mainline station; its metro stop is named Zhengzhou Railway Station (郑州火车站). Zhengzhou East (郑州东) is a separate major high-speed hub. Zhengzhou Hangkonggang (郑州航空港) is another railway station outside the terminal. Use the full name when buying tickets, booking a car or selecting a hotel. “The Zhengzhou high-speed station” is not precise enough.
From the airport metro station, Hangkonggang is in the opposite direction from the Jiahe/Liuzhuang trains into the main city. The airport-station page gives separate times for these directions. A later train toward Hangkonggang does not mean you can still use the same service to reach Erqi Square.
Also distinguish Xinzheng Airport railway station from Xinzheng station. The word “Airport” is part of the name, not an optional description. For any air–rail itinerary, check each segment’s stations, date and connection requirements. If the ticket starts at Hangkonggang, include the journey there from the airport separately.
Last trains, limited-stop services and short workings
The operator’s airport-station page lists 06:00 and 22:15 as the first and last departures toward Jiahe/Liuzhuang, while the final departure toward Zhengzhou Hangkonggang is listed as 23:43. These are station-page reference times, not a universal network closing time or a latest permissible aircraft landing time. Check the day’s announcements and station displays before travelling.
Weekday, weekend, event and holiday arrangements can differ. The operator’s website carries timetable changes, while the transport authority’s 2026 National Day report describes extensions on specific holiday dates. Such an extension is not evidence of the same late service every ordinary night. If a limited-stop train is offered, check its stops and whether the required Line 1 or other connection is still available.
For the return, read the train’s destination carefully. Line 2 also has short-working services, so a southbound train does not necessarily run to the airport. If it finishes at Nansihuan or another intermediate station, you need the appropriate onward service. Confirming this before boarding is easier than discovering it when the train terminates.
An early flight requires the first departure from your actual city station, not the airport’s 06:00 first city-bound train. Work backwards from airline check-in, bag-drop and boarding requirements, adding the real metro journey and terminal access time. If the service starts too late, arrange a car or another confirmed transport option.
Find airport coaches at T2, not an outdated long-distance station
A coach may reduce luggage transfers, but first check its destination, actual departure and vehicle type. A May 2025 Zhengzhou Evening News report based on an airport enquiry says the long-distance coach routes moved to T2’s ground floor (Level 1), joining the city services at the terminal. Do not follow an old instruction to a previous long-distance coach station without checking.
Follow the airport-bus signs to the designated sales and waiting area. Give staff the destination, such as Zhengzhou East, the central railway-station district, Jinshui Road or the full hotel address, and confirm where the vehicle actually drops passengers. Old route numbers alone can be misleading when lists from different years use different numbering, stops or vehicles.
Coach routes can use different vehicles and departure arrangements. A fare for one standard coach, a small-vehicle price or a published interval is not a promise for every route. Before paying, ask whether the price is per person or per vehicle, whether the ride is shared, when it leaves and what remains after drop-off.
A 2026 airport transport report also identifies the 郑州机场巴士 WeChat mini-program as a route and departure enquiry channel. Check it before travelling, then confirm the actual arrangement at the airport.
The airport-relocation report provides round-the-clock enquiries through two numbers: 0371-68519508 from 09:00 to 19:00, and 0371-68516511 from 19:00 to 09:00 the next day. A 24-hour enquiry service does not mean every route runs all night. For a late arrival, ask which destinations are still served and when the next vehicle will actually depart.
Taxis and ride-hailing: verify the pickup and the whole price
A direct car is worth considering for a late arrival, a group or a hotel away from the rail network. Use the designated taxi queue or the designated app-car pickup area shown by the platform and airport signs. Do not expect collection from any convenient drop-off lane, and do not mistake the drivers’ holding garage for the passenger meeting point.
In 2024, the airport made a public response about ride-hailing service-area charges. An older report can flag a reason to check costs, but it is not proof that the same supplement applies to every current booking. Confirm the meter or quoted price, any relevant extra charges and the receipt. There is no single useful airport-car fare for every address across Zhengzhou.
When comparing with public transport, include everyone’s tickets and any final connection, then check vehicle capacity. Three people with three large cases will not necessarily fit every small car. Save the hotel’s Chinese name and address, prepare payment with the China mobile-payments guide, and keep a backup method available.
Frequently asked questions about Zhengzhou airport transport
Are the airport intercity train and metro the same service?
No. National-rail intercity trains use railway tickets and entry procedures. Chengjiao belongs to the metro system, and the Zhengxu Line is another service. A shared station name does not make the tickets, entrances and platforms interchangeable.
Must I change at Nansihuan from Chengjiao to Line 2?
Not necessarily. Through trains operate between the lines. If you are on the appropriate through service, do not get off simply because the line name changes. Follow any temporary operating instructions.
Which Line 1 direction goes from Zijingshan to Erqi Square?
Take the direction toward Henan University of Technology and alight at Erqi Square. Henan University New Campus is the opposite direction, so check the complete terminus name.
Is the metro always the easiest option for Zhengzhou East?
