For Hong Kong Christmas markets, the key question is when the stalls are actually open. A tree or light display may run for weeks while its market operates only on selected days. If your goal is gifts, food or a workshop, the wider Christmas-season dates are not enough.
For the 2026 season, the government lists a December Christmas fair at Wong Tai Sin Square. Central, WestK and Taikoo Place require a closer distinction between current planning and previous-edition information. This guide compares four market choices without carrying old stall lists, prices or admission rules into 2026.
Compare the market dates and districts
| Market or site | What is established | Good fit | Check next |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wong Tai Sin Christmas Fair | December 2026 and Wong Tai Sin Square listed | A Kowloon shopping stop | Exact dates, daily hours and stalls |
| Central Christmas Town market | 2025 market ran 28 November–4 January 2026 | Dinner and a market in Central | Separate 2026 market dates |
| WestK Christmas Lane | 2025 stalls at Art Park’s Harbourside East Lawn | Shopping with a harbour walk | Whether and when it returns in 2026 |
| White Christmas Street Fair, Taikoo Place | 2025: 11–14 December; 2026 student programme mentions preparation | An evening in Quarry Bay | Public 2026 event schedule |
Four Christmas markets to consider
1. Wong Tai Sin Christmas Fair: watch the December district announcement

Listed for 2026: the government calendar places Wong Tai Sin Christmas Fair at Wong Tai Sin Square in December. It names China Hong Kong Culture Sports and Tourism Association and Wong Tai Sin District Office as organisers. Exact operating dates, hours and stall lists are not given. Government event calendar.
This is worth following if you are staying in Kowloon and want a gift-shopping stop without crossing the harbour. Wait until the actual dates match your trip before adding it to a Wong Tai Sin itinerary. A month-long calendar label does not mean the fair opens every day.
Use Wong Tai Sin MTR station as a district starting point, then follow the announced market entrance. The square, the event zone and Wong Tai Sin Temple have separate access arrangements. Admission, workshop reservations and payment methods need the current event details.
2. Central Christmas Town market: the stalls can start later than the lights

Previous-edition reference, 2025: Central’s Christmas Town opened on 14 November, but its market started on 28 November; both ended on 4 January 2026. That difference is why market visitors should check the shopping dates, not only the first day of the festive display.
For 2026, HKTB’s sponsorship information gives a tentative mid-November to early-January period for Christmas Town, rather than a separate market schedule. Wait for the actual market days, area and hours if shopping or food is the purpose of your visit. A dinner and city walk remain easier to plan if the stalls have not yet opened. Current tentative planning.
Central works best when you already have dinner or shopping nearby. Central Station is the district starting point, but the Statue Square site described above belongs to 2025 and is not a confirmed 2026 direction. Check workshops and limited-capacity experiences separately; market access does not make every activity free.
3. WestK Christmas Lane: leave time for both the stalls and the waterfront

Previous-edition reference, 2025: HKTB’s trade listing places WestK Christmas Lane at Art Park’s Harbourside East Lawn, with gift and food stalls and performances. WestK also published a programme. This was a separate West Kowloon event, so Central WinterFest dates cannot be applied to it. Previous location introduction and WestK programme.
Consider it if browsing a few stalls and walking by the water both appeal. Once 2026 details appear, choose an actual market day and fit dinner around it. If shopping is your priority, read the stall categories before making a special trip; a festive lawn is not necessarily a large retail market.
Approach Art Park from the Kowloon Station area using the official park access guide. A normally open park does not mean a market is operating that day. Check event-specific arrangements for pets, strollers, food and restricted areas, and keep an outdoor plan flexible in poor weather.
4. Taikoo Place White Christmas Street Fair: keep the evening local

Licence & attribution
Previous-edition reference, 2025: Swire’s announcement records the fair on 11–14 December at Tong Chong Street, Taikoo Square and Taikoo Park. Taikoo Square here is in the Taikoo Place development; it is not Pacific Place in Admiralty. Use the full destination name when planning your journey. 2025 organiser announcement.
The 2026 Placemaking Academy programme mentions preparing the White Christmas Street Fair, but an apprenticeship period is not the public market schedule. Keep it on your list if you want gift browsing followed by dinner in Quarry Bay. Build a shopping list from the eventual stall announcement instead of assuming last year’s vendors return. Organiser’s programme information.
Use Quarry Bay and Taikoo Place as the destination, then confirm the actual site through the Taikoo Place access page. With a potentially short market run, keep dinner as the fixed part of the evening and add the fair when dates are established.

These places are spread across Kowloon, Central and eastern Hong Kong Island. Do not try to cover all four in one evening. Pick a market that is open on your date and close to another part of your trip. The gifts you want and the time you can spend matter more than the number of stops.
Bring a reusable bag and protect fragile purchases. Leave a break for food rather than squeezing a queue between timed reservations. Payment methods can differ by stall; check whether the organiser uses cash, electronic payments or event vouchers before deciding what to carry.
Workshops, photo sessions, charity stalls and ordinary purchases may have different fees or booking rules. Old spending rewards and free activities should not be part of a 2026 budget unless announced again. Read any date, time-slot and refund restrictions before paying.
Market questions
- Have Hong Kong’s 2026 Christmas market dates been announced?
- Wong Tai Sin has a government-listed December plan, but exact days are not specified. The other public 2026 schedules require their organisers’ announcements; all 2025 dates above are historical references.
- Does a 1 November WinterFest start mean the market opens then?
- No. The citywide festival, Christmas Town, shopping stalls, workshops and light shows can have different opening dates.
- Are all markets free?
- Do not assume that for an unannounced edition. Access to a public space does not mean every market experience is free.
- What should I choose for one evening?
- Choose one market operating on your date near dinner or your hotel, then check the stalls and weather rather than crossing the city for extra stops.
